In the first semi-final, Tubbenden were impressive in a 14-5 win over St Olave's, who at times looked capable of getting back into the game but ran out of steam in the final minutes.
The second semi-final saw Chislehurst beat Biggin Hill 10-4. As in the first semi-final, the score was very close until the end when Chislehurst pulled away.
The 3rd/4th place match was an exciting one, which featured St Olaves vs Biggin Hill. The teams were back and forth the whole game, with nothing between them. The final score ended 4-4. One minute of extra time gave Biggin Hill the opportunity to score the winning basket, which they did, to seal 3rd place in a 6-4 win.
The grand final would match Tubbenden's A team against Chislehurst's A team. Both teams struggled against pressure defense early, however Tubbenden held the narrowest of leads, 4-2 at half-time.
The second half saw Chislehurst trapping their opponents, which enabled them to force some turnovers. The team in blue and gold looked to be pulling away, taking an 8-4 lead into the last two minutes. Tubbenden showed some resilience though, scoring to make it 8-6 and then nearly scoring the tying basket with under a minute remaining. Chislehurst recovered the rebound and ran the clock down to zero; they were the winners in the first ever London Storm A final.
All players received water-bottles and t-shirts from the Storm, and the runners-up and winners received medals. Children from all teams should be commended for their excellent play throughout the tournament. The coaches from the Storm would love to see as many of you as possible attending training sessions, which take place every Tuesday from 5pm in the summer term.
